It’s interesting to see a world where the women hold the power. New Spring is the first comic book adaptation of Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time saga. It shows how Lan and Moraine first met up, and how he became her Warder, as well as how Moraine became an Aes Sedai, a magic-weaver. The graphic novel is literally starting at the beginning, and moving forward from there, showing fans how there favorite characters got their start.

Based on the graphic novel, it’s easy to see why the series is such a favorite. The characters are fully fleshed out, and their motivations feel real, even for the bad guys. The plot moves along in an orderly fashion, something not often seen in fantasy novels. The artwork is also pretty nice as well, with lots of nice touches that any fan of the series will appreciate, ranging from the detail of the Aes Sedai dresses to how the magic looks. This is definitely a book that anyone interested in high fantasy is going to appreciate, and it may be a good start for those debating looking into the Wheel of Time series.
