Out of this World by Amy Sklansky will delight fans of space who are feeling neglected. This collection of poems and facts resurrects some of the joy and wonder of space for old enthusiasts and for the next generation. The book includes Haiku and poems written in iambic pentameter. Stacey Schuett’s illustrations are fitting and very accurate. Some of the words are even intertwined within the imagery. For example, the poem “Black Hole” swirls into the center of an illustration of a black hole. This book is a sensory delight, peppered with facts delivered in a pleasing format. Kids three to ten years of age are ideal audience members. Out of this World will ignite a passion in readers and they won’t even realize it is educational. Parents will enjoy it as well.
